Two new exhibitions at the Picasso Museum
Since July 21st, 2020, the Musée Picasso de Paris has set the pace for the rest of the country with its two new exhibitions, Picasso and the Comic Strip and Picasso Poet. The first examines Picasso’s love of comics, how he was influenced by this artform and used some of its conventions, including sequences of images, in shaping his masterpieces, and how he and his creativity have featured in the work of various comics artists. The second exhibition shows us a Picasso little known to many people. It turns out that this artistic genius also wrote poems and even painted them! Head to 5 Rue de Thorigny to discover the vast and colourful world of Pablo Picasso.
Botticelli receives a retrospective at the Jacquemart-André Museum
Located in the same arrondissement as the Ouest Hôtel, the Musée Jacquemart-André has some wonderful surprises in store for visitors passionate about paintings. Works by the famous Early Italian Renaissance painter Botticelli will be on display this autumn. All visitors can glean plenty of background information thanks to the audio guides provided. The aim of the exhibition is to show the evolution of Botticelli's way of painting, as well as demonstrate how others were inspired by him. Due to the health crisis, the exhibition, which was originally scheduled for September 11th, 2020 to January 25th, 2021 has unfortunately been postponed to a future date. We’ll keep you informed.
The Luxembourg Museum celebrates fashion and femininity
The most beautiful photographs of the painter, photographer and film director Man Ray will be on display at the Musée du Luxembourg from the start of autumn, 2020. The exhibition entitled Man Ray and Fashion highlights a little-known aspect of the great 20th century creator’s work by showing us his photographs of fashionable women in the 1920s. Man Ray helped to make photography an artform in its own right and this exhibition will certainly give you plenty of clues as to how he did it thanks to an eye-opening selection of photographs intended for major magazines such as Vogue, and created for great fashion designers such as Chanel. Head to 19 Rue de Vaugirard between September 23rd, 2020 and January 17th, 2021, to rediscover a visual visionary and the fashions of the early 20th century.
