The end of the year in the heart of Paris
Categories : Entertainment, published on : 11/1/23
From mid-November onwards, Paris conjures up the cold weather and long nights in a flurry of lights and entertainment. Illuminations, Christmas markets, shows and exhibitions are the perfect way to prepare for the festive season. When you stay at the Ouest Hôtel, you'll be at the heart of this magic. Here are a few ideas to help you make the most of it...
The must-sees in Paris at the end of the year
For Parisians, it would be unimaginable not to take a stroll through the illuminated streets. From mid-November onwards, the major thoroughfares and squares are adorned with millions of LEDs, creating a simply enchanting atmosphere. Stroll down the illuminated Champs-Élysées, follow the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, admire the Place Vendôme and its majestic Christmas tree... Another must-see of the festive season, the animated window displays are eagerly awaited by Parisians every year. At Printemps Haussmann, a five-minute walk from the Ouest Hôtel, but also in all the other department stores, automatons create enchanted scenes where Santa's elves prepare presents, and animals from the Far North frolic in the snow... You'll want to complement these strolls with a cup of hot chocolate, a crispy waffle or roasted chestnuts. You'll find them at the capital's Christmas markets and in its parks and gardens.
Shopping and going out
Paris is, of course, the ideal place to decorate the foot of the Christmas tree. Just a stone's throw from the Ouest Hôtel, department stores offer the latest trends in fashion, beauty and accessories, from major labels to young designer brands. Take advantage of your Christmas shopping to discover the covered passages of Paris. As well as being architectural treasures, they are home to artisan and designer boutiques. Last but not least, don't forget the large shopping malls, always practical and welcoming, especially on rainy days. Beaugrenelle stands out for its contemporary architecture and natural light, while Bercy Village beautifully occupies the capital's former wine cellars. After a day's shopping, treat yourself to a night out. Opt for the cabaret tradition, for example. From the brand-new Lido 2 to the classic French cancan at the Moulin Rouge and Kamel Ouali's astonishing show at the Folies Bergères, there's a cabaret to suit every taste. Last but not least, theaters and concert halls are particularly careful with their programming this season, with the famous musical Mamma mia! at the Casino de Paris and the inimitable Lion King at the Théâtre Mogador.
A whirlwind of lights, decorations and events, from mid-November onwards Paris takes on its festive rhythm, which it will maintain until early January. Take advantage of the Ouest Hôtel's central location to experience some intense moments.
